When NOLA Meets NYC - 1803 and File Gumbo Bar

I know sometimes we may want to hop on a plan and go to NOLA just to eat, but in case y’all can’t then I am here to tell you to check out 1803 and File Gumbo Bar in NYC. Both places are located in Tribeca and serve NOLA styled food. They have two different ambiances about them which is great as well. Read more below about my experiences at both restaurants.

1803 is located in Tribeca. Depending on the holiday or day, they have drag shows downstairs and sometimes live music. We went during Mardis Gras and the restaurant was decorated as if you were really in NOLA for the festivities. I got the short ribs, mac and cheese and The Calliope. The food and service was good. I would definitely go here again. Pictured: Charbroiled Oysters

File Gumbo Bar is Black-owned and they serve cajan cuisine styled food. You have to make reservations because their location isn’t big and it gets booked very quickly. You can eat at their bar, but they’re strict on reservations. I’ve eaten here a few times and I’ve tried their char-grilled oysters, beignets and drinks.
