The Photograph Screening at SVA Theatre

The Photograph Screening at SVA Theatre

NBCUniversal hosted the world premiere of “The Photograph”, starring LaKeith Stanfield and Issa Rae, and directed by Stella Meghie. This past February, I had the opportunity to attend the movie screening and cover the event on the red carpet. This was my first time at the SVA Theatre in NYC and had an amazing time.

The SVA Theatre is located on 333 West 23 Street, New York NY. The theatre host a variety of events year-round, both private and public. In addition, to serving the needs of the School of Visual Arts, it is available to the community at large. This is the perfect location for intimate events such as this.

I couldn’t believe that I met Mara Brock Akil, Will Packer, LaKeith Stanfield, and Issa Rae. Of course, I kept it professional, but I was in awe of all of this #blackexcellence. A Black ass movie, during Black History Month. I mean, c’mon, it couldn’t get any better than that!

The Photograph is a 2020 American romantic drama film written and directed by Stella Meghie. It follows the estranged daughter (Issa Rae) of a famous photographer who falls in love with the journalist (Lakeith Stanfield) who is investigating her late mother's life.

Now that I look back, I can’t believe this was our last red carpet event for the year due to the pandemic.

HBO Max has officially released the movie on it’s streaming platform. I watched it again because I missed the first 30 mins of it at the screening since our girl, Issa Rae made her grand entrance. Watching the film, led me to write this blog and go down memory lane.
