Things To Do In Atlanta

Things To Do In Atlanta

In the words of Jermaine Dupri and Ludacris, “Welcome to Atlanta.” 🎶

On my many trips to Atlanta, I got the chance to switch it up a little bit this time. I was going to mainly focus on my hiking and zumba adventure up Stone Mountain, but then realized, Atlanta has so much to offer as a whole. Black-owned businesses are thriving and the community is growing. We love to see it and I love to support! Breakfast at Barneys, Slutty Vegan, Edgewood Pizza, Trap Museum, Old Lady Gang, and Escobar Atlanta are all Black-owned. Also, Faniah is not only a zumba instructor, she does sisterlocks as well! I mention her on our Stone Mountain hike below.

You can go from being bad and bougie at brunch to hanging out at the trap. It depends on your mood. lol With that being said, check out some of my favorite moments in Atlanta and you will see for yourself.

Zumba At Stone Mountain

Stone Mountain Park in Atlanta, GA features 15 miles of hiking and walking trails with varying degrees of difficulty. You can enjoy the 5-mile trail around the base, the 1-mile trail to the summit and more! The zumba class was about an hour long at the top of the mountain. Faniah was a great zumba instructor and had about 20 people in the class. We all hiked up the mountain together around 8am. The best time to go is in the early mornings when it is not too hot or crowded. Sidenote: We did this in early October.

Trap Museum

Atlanta’s art museum and Escape Room is nestled in the heart of West Atlanta. This space is centered around ‘Trap Music’ culture while featuring a collection of one-of-a-kind pieces in honor of some of Hip-Hop’s most iconic and affluential Trap Music Stars.

Old Lady Gang

Serving Southern cuisine, Old Lady Gang is owned by R&B Group member, Xscape and Real Housewives of Atlanta star, Kandi Burruss and her husband, Todd Tucker. It is named after Kandi Burruss' mother and two aunts. They have several locations in Atlanta. Not pictured: Aunt Bertha’s Fried Chicken

Slutty Vegan Edgewood

No meat? No problem! You’ve never tasted a burger this Slutty. Enjoy the best in plant-based bangin’. I am not even vegan and I truly enjoyed my meal. Please make sure you get there early due to how crowded it can get and you will have to wait on line outside since they have limited indoor seating. You can buy merch in the restaurant as well. Edgewood Pizza

Located on the corner of Edgewood Avenue and Boulevard in Atlanta’s historic Old Fourth Ward neighborhood. This is located next door to Slutty Vegan Edgewood location. Their massive King slice is known world wide – from Atlanta to Sicily. You can dine in, hang out at their bar, get take out, or delivery.

Escobar Atlanta

Escobar Atlanta has two locations. I went to Escobar South which is outside of Atlanta. From 2 Chainz & Snoop Upscale Restaurant with a menu that includes a variety of tapas, salads, and Entrees. Proud Owners, Tauheed "2 Chainz" Epps & Mychel "Snoop" Dillard. Pictured: Mecca of the South

Breakfast At Barneys

Breakfast at Barneys is a part breakfast/brunch eatery and part daytime social club which offers decadent comfort food in a highly designed and stylish atmosphere that is at the same time welcoming with great vibes, music, atmosphere and the very best service in the city. Brownbag Seafood

Brownbag Seafood is located at Ponce City Market. If you’re looking for a good lobter roll, then this would be your place to go to! To quench your thirst, try their Gingerade! Pictured: Lobster Roll with truffle- paremeson tater tots.

Ponce City Market

Located in the Old Fourth Ward neighborhood along the Atlanta BeltLine, across from Historic Fourth Ward Park, and walking or pedaling distance from Virginia-Highland, Poncey-Highland, and Midtown, PCM is a hub for residents, neighbors, and visitors to gather, work, and play. 9 Mile Station is a rooftop beer garden with local brews, creative pub fare & city views from atop Ponce City Market.

W Atlanta Midtown

The W Atlanta is one of my favorite places to stay at when I come to Atlanta. It is next door to the Ponce City Market and it’s in proximity to your favorite places to eat at in the midtown area.

Toast On Lenox

Toast On Lennox is one of my favorites spots to eat at. You should book your reservation in advance. It is always crowded. I’ve ate at the bar a few times as a walk-in, but still had to wait for someone to leave. This lobster waffle is my favorite meal, but check for the marketprice if you order. It isn’t cheap, but well worth it!

5 Church Atlanta Midtown

This restaurant is a rooftop cocktail club and is located at Ponce City Market. It’s a good location to have private events as well. It is located a few steps away from Brown Bag Seafood.

Pasha Restaurant and Bar

This restaurant & bar serves Mediterranean & European Cuisine with shisha. If you’re looking for the club vibe with good food, then this would be it. You don’t have to do shisha, it is an option. The DJ was good, too.

Mary Mac’s Tea Room

I love the idea of writing your order in with a pencil and giving it to the waiter/waitress. This restaurant serves classic southern food with genuine hospitality in the heart of Atlanta for over seventy-five years. It gives an ol skool vibe, hence the pencil in the picture.

W Hotel Downtown Atlanta

As a Marriott Bonvoy member, I suggest you stay here to get your points. I loved the location of this hotel. They have a pool, a spa, and workout room. The rooms are spacious as well.
