How To Spend The Weekend In The Boogie Down Bronx

How To Spend The Weekend In The Boogie Down Bronx

Home to the Yankees and Cardi B, the Bronx is one of the boroughs that is diverse and gentrification hasn’t quite hit all the way yet. That’s just my opinion. I feel like not enough people give the boogie down Bronx the love that it deserves. As we celebrate 50 years of Hip Hop this year, I thought it would be a great idea to show this borough some BX love, especially where Hip Hop originated from. Read more about some of my favorite spots and how I experienced my first Yankee game all within the same weekend.

THE LIT. BAR Bookstore & Chill

The Lit Bar is owned by Noëlle Santos, who is an African American and Puerto Rican venture activist from the Bronx. She curates a selection of general interest books, gift items, and programming which emphasize local interest and diversity for all ages. A few celebrities such as Mary J. Blige and Omarion have held events here in the past to promote their books. This is located next door to the Beastro which is featured later on in this post.

Zona De Cuba

Zona De Cuba , located on the Grand Concorse, provides a Cuban and Caribbean experience that you won’t forget. I consider this a speakeasy since it’s located on top of a post office and you won’t be able to see the restaurant from the street. They have valet parking as well. Sometimes they have a DJ or band that plays. You would have to check the website for more information.

Beastro

If you’re looking for a hip-hop lounge to go to on the weekend, Beastro would be it! You can hear the DJ from outside. It’s super cute with ol’ skool hip-hop vibe decorations. You can eat at the bar or you can make reservations. This is located next door to The Lit Bar.

Yankee Stadium

My first Yankee game was hanging out in box seats! Don’t even ask me what was going on because I had no clue. I was there for the vibes only. LOL You can find me where the food and drinks are. I felt like I was in a secluded area which was a different type of vibe. This was such an awesome experience.
