Why I Applied For Global Entry
I know there is this ongoing debate of what traveler’s program is better. Honestly, it really depends on the traveler. I chose the Global Entry program because I travel both internationally and domestically. I got tired of waiting on lines as well. I paid $100 for 5 years of usage. I think it’s totally worth it if you travel a lot.

Global Entry can definitely be worth it as it saves you a lot of time and hassle when returning from an international trip. The cost is just $15 more than TSA PreCheck and it includes all PreCheck benefits as well. Plus, there are many travel credit cards that offer Global Entry application fee credits.
How To Get An Appointment
Check out the Trusted Traveler Programs website on how to create an account. They will walk you through the steps on what program best suits you. From there, you can make an appointment once you get the OK on your application. Scheduling an appointment can become tricky. When I tried to book one, it was sending me to other states because NYC is so popular. I checked on a random day and got an appointment for the next day. My appointment literally lasted 15 minutes. Make sure you walk with your passport and license or another form of ID or bill payment that has your address on it.
At the appointment, I was asked a series of questions that were viewed from my application. I was then asked to confirm some of the countries I had visited recently (as listed on my application) and whether I’d traveled to each for business or leisure. The final step was to give my fingerprints and get my photo taken (so make sure to brush your hair on the day of your interview).

Global Entry program members can use Global Entry Customs Kiosks at more than 75 airports when returning to the U.S. from travel abroad.
