Tatiana by Kwame Onwuachi- Lincoln Center
We’re starting the New Year off right by eating good of course!
I had the opportunity to go to ‘Tatiana’ by Kwame Onwuachi in Lincoln Center. For those who don’t know, getting a reservation to this restaurant is very difficult. It’s like one of the most talked about restaurants in NYC and it’s Black-owned.
Who Is Kwame Onwuachi?
The Top Chef star and best-selling author has received many accolades including: James Beard Rising Star Chef Award, StarChefs Award, FOOD & WINE’S Best New Chef, Esquire Magazine’s Chef of the Year 2019, and 30 Under 30 honoree by Forbes and Zagat. He opened this Afro-Caribbean Restaurant at New York’s Lincoln Center in fall 2022. He was raised between New York, Nigeria, and Louisiana, Kwame Onwuachi is known for his Jamaican, Creole and Nigerian flavors. Tatiana is loosely described as Afro-Caribbean, which is probably too prosaic a catchall. Onwuachi, who was raised in the Bronx, centres his menu around the African diaspora, with flavors influenced by his time living in different parts of the world, including Nigeria, Jamaica, Louisiana and Washington D.C. Fun fact: This restaurant is named after his sister. She helped raise him and he wanted to pay homage and how much she’s been an influence to him.
How To Get A Reservation
You can make reservations on Resy, but I will say, it’s super hard to book. I’ve never seen an opening on the website which sounds crazy. You can continue to check the website for openings. You must be wondering how I even got in? The restaurant opens at 5pm and well, I decided to show up before they open. They had a few people waiting on line to do a walk-in. I don’t recommend bringing a full group to do a walk-in. It won’t work for bar sitting. The prices of the menu aren’t online. Remember this is fine dining and you may try a few things. So, come with some money, honey!
Read more below about what I ate. I can’t wait to go back and try a few other things!
