Coachella 2017 - Weekend 2

Coachella 2017 - Weekend 2

Hey Nicia Travels fam! In honor of Coachella weekend, I decided to repurpose this post since COVID-19 has canceled majority of my festival plans for this year. Still heartbroken about this. I decided to pull out some old footage that I never posted. I made a recap video, reformatted this post and added some new pics. Well, new to ya’ll, old to me. lol Check it out below. Stay safe!

A year long of planning Coachella was a complete success!

Weekend 2 was filled with laughter, excitement, and sweet memories! I guess you can say I am officially a "Coachella Veteran" and I am here to ensure that your planning will go just as smoothly as ours did.

To do a payment plan or not?

You are probably wondering about the pricing of tickets. How much do they cost? How do we get to and from Indio?  Just a quick fact..the festival is located in Indio, California. Luckily, I was able to find a payment plan on the RevoltTV instagram as I did my daily dose of scrolling last April. It was about $60 a month up until December to pay for the festival and shuttle pass together. Let's keep in mind that you are taking a huge risk doing the payment plan because the lineup is NOT  released until that January.  You will pay the full amount for either weekend 1/2 if you miss the payment plan option in January. So, be on the lookout all over social media for the payment plan!

Shuttle Passes/ Living Arrangements

We should talk about the shuttle passes. It saves LIVES! No, seriously it was accessible next to our hotel and we got on and off as we pleased. The shuttles stop running after the last act and they begin their routes at 11am. Depending on where you stay, will determine your EST to and from the festival. We stayed at the Best Western Plus in Palm Desert. If you decide to camp, then the camping grounds are right next door. Please keep in mind that there is a difference between staying in Palm Desert and Palm Springs. Palm Springs is almost an hour away from the festival in Indio. Whereas, Palm Desert was only about 20 minutes from Indio.

@ the festival

Give yourself ample enough time to get dressed, head to the shuttle, wait for the shuttle, shuttle to the festival and then go through security. Everyone is always on a mission when they have a list of people they want to see perform. It may be difficult for you to see every single act because possibly 1-2 people in your group may not want to see that act. Take turns on deciding who you would like to see more or use the buddy system. You should never be alone and most of the time our phones had no service. Messages were delayed since thousands of people were amongst the crowd.

Fun Fact: You will never be in front of the stage to watch someone perform. I kid you NOT. It doesn't matter how early you arrive. Other festivals gooers are thinking the same as you are. Be prepared to party hard in the back and the act looking like a spectacle on the stage. But don't worry because Coachella has large TV screens that you are able to watch!

Lockers

There are lockers at the festival that cost between $60-$80 depending on size for the weekend. You get back $20 after the festival is over.  They are very secured and you are provided with a key.  Perks comes with having a locker. They do give you FREE water and other neccessities that you may need during the festival.

What to pack?

As we all know Coachella is a fashion show, but keep in mind to dress cute and comfortable. Thin clothing is a must. I packed rompers, jean shorts, bathing suits, crop tops/tank-tops. I don't advise to pack your brand new footwear.  Pack comfortable sandals, sneakers, combat boots, hats, shades, and most importantly a bandanna to cover your face. Dust kicks up while thousands of festival gooers overcrowd the desert. Protect your face from the sand and dust or else you will be coughing up a lung! PS Bring sunscreen! Just becuase your filled with melanin does NOT mean you don't need to think about sunscreen. WRONG! As we all know skin cancer is a big deal and you should have sunscreen on at all times. You are in the middle of a desert.

Also, do not foget to activate your wristband passes online or on the Coachella app. Unlike the Fyre Festival that was a complete disaster, Coachella is very organized and will send updates periodicially.

Drinking

There are plenty of water stations to refill your bottles. Keep in mind you are not allowed to bring in full water bottles, only empty ones into the festibal. Try not to get drunk either. You need to stay hydrated and it can get over 100 degrees out there. Being drunk in the desert is NOT a good look.
