Cabo San Lucas-Mexico
Oh hey Cabo, is that you?!
Y’all, I FINALLY went to Los Cabos. It has been on my bucketlist for quite sometime now. This was my first international trip since COVID. Although, the COVID cases were starting to increase due to the Delta variant, I was mentally prepared to go and have a good time. Cabo San Lucas, a resort city on the southern tip of Mexico’s Baja California peninsula, is known for its beaches, water-based activities and nightlife.
How To Prepare?
To take precautions, I did take a COVID test before I left. You don’t need one to enter Mexico, but you do need to take a test to enter back into the U.S. Our resort scheduled the test for us and it was very easy. Please don’t forget your passport as well! Also, you will have to fill out immigration forms and if you have a connecting flight within Mexico coming back to the U.S., please make sure you KEEP your immigration paperwork until you board your last connecting back to the states. I’ve witnessed certain individuals not able to board their last connecting flight due to their immigration form being taken in between flights.
Where To Stay?
We stayed at the Riu Palace Baja California-Adults Only resort. I made an account with the RIU since I am a points kinda girl and they have so many perks when you book directly with them. My only downfall with this trip was I booked it through a third party (Hotels.com) which is never a bad idea. But, if you want PERKS, then you should book directly with the hotel. They provide a free shuttle to and from the airport if you are a RIU member and if you book directly with them.
All inclusive is the way to go. Free drinks, a plethora of food choices, and did I mention the drinks? lol I spent most of my time at the buffet because they had everything you can imagine. They did require a temperature check when you enter the resort and the buffet. The resort was clean at all times, concierge was awesome, and we just felt safe. They did have curfew due to COVID. Although, I do love a good party, better safe than sorry. Fun Fact: They have a water park as well, but I wasn’t trying to get my hair wet and you can’t bring drinks in that area since it was in the family resort next door. sigh It was cute though. Just be prepared for that if you go.
Lands End (Baja California Peninsula)
The arch of Cabo San Lucas, is a rock formation at the southern tip of Cabo San Lucas, which is itself the extreme southern end of Mexico's Baja California Peninsula. The arch is locally known as "El Arco," which means "the arch" in Spanish, or "Land's End." I only spent a weekend in Mexico because I didn’t want to do too much. Usually, I am out with the locals and exploring, but wanted to be safe. Going to the Lands End has been on my list for awhile and the only way you’re getting there is if you take a boat. I found a 2 hour sunset cruise that provides food and drinks with a DJ. It leaves from the Boulevard Marina in Los Cabos. The name of the cruise line is called Caborey.
Where To Eat Outside of the Resort?
The reviews for NOBU in Los Cabos were really good and one of my friends highly recommended it. I must say, the food, the service and the COVID precautions were top notch. I booked this reservation back in May once I figured out logistics. Make sure you book reservations in advance. They even called a taxi for us to make sure we got back to the RIU Palace safely. NOBU is a Japenese cuisine restuarant where they serve different types of foods. We ordered several types of sushi rolls as well. They also have a resort, but it is not all inclusive. You can click on the image and it will take you to their website for more information. I wanted to check out this other restaurant called Sunset Monalisa, but again, just trying to be safe. Definitely for next time!
Mexico is truly one of those places where you can spend a weekend and feel complete. Definitely enjoyed my time away. I hope you do as well when it is your time to go!
