Rock the Bells Festival- Forest Hills Stadium

Rock the Bells Festival- Forest Hills Stadium

This year marked 50 years of Hip-Hop and what better way to celebrate by getting invited to Rock The Bells Festival this past August at the Forest Hills Stadium in Queens, NY.

The festival is curated by LL COOL J, the founder of Rock The Bells, and the Hip-Hop legend previously stressed the significance of the event. The lineup for the festival featured the following: Queen Latifah, Monie Love, Ludacris, De La Soul, Slick Rick, Rakim, Yo-Yo, Redman + Method Man, Roxanne Shanté, Big Daddy Kane, MC Lyte, MC Sha-Rock, Boot Camp Clik, Swizz Beatz with special guests, Cold Crush Brothers, and Salt-N-Pepa and more.

We’ve come a long way since August 11, 1973, the birthdate of Hip-Hop. It only took some teenagers throw a back-to-school party in the rec room of their apartment building in the Bronx. And presiding over it all was deejay Kool Herc. Since then, hip-hop has evolved and it has exploded!

How to Get There

My only suggestion when attending this venue is to probably take the train. I love driving and thought it would be fine to drive to Forest Hills Stadium. I had never been to that stadium, but I’ve hung out in the area and parking is always an issue. This stadium has NO parking, like no parking lot. It’s a residential area and residents are not playing about parking in front of their homes. Don’t park in front of someone’s house if the sign says ‘private parking’ or “Do Not Park On This Block.’ You will get towed. I witnessed it. Please make sure you take the LIRR or the subway there. It’s much easier.
