My Antiguan Passport Has Arrived
Y’all, I have great news! After a year and half of trying to get my Antiguan passport, it has finally arrived! It’s official! I am a citizen of Antigua and Barbuda now!
I just wanna shout out my mama, cousins, aunties and anyone else that has helped me along this journey. For those who read my first blog, I listed out the steps of getting it and me getting denied. Read more here.
After I gave in the correct passport pictures, apostille with the seal, certified birth certificate and my mother’s birth certificate, I had to get interviewed. Now, my mom left the interview part out. lol I texted her immediately and she said she didn’t know about that part. Anyways, they allowed me to come into the conference room and I had to sit with the woman that helped me with paperwork. She asked me a few questions such as naming grandparents on BOTH sides ( mother and father) and why do I want to become a citizen. To be transparent, I had to phone a friend on the grandparent names. I didn’t know them. I was so embarrassed. I only knew my grandma on my father’s side since she was the only person I met when I was little. With that being said, my mom and I had to get the death certificates of her parents when we were in Antigua the first time I made the attempt. I never met them unfortunately.
If you’re wondering what is next, well, I have a few things in mind! There’s so many perks to having a dual citizenship, which I explain in my post that is attached above. If you have parents that are from a different country and interested in doing this, please do it! I couldn’t have done this without my mom’s side of the family.
