#HolidayTravel: Portland and Seattle
The holidays are over and the year is off to a fresh new start!
I spent my holidays traveling to Portland, Oregon and Seattle, Washington. The northwest was very different to travel to. Some may wonder why go? Well, why not? Yes, we traveled from one cold state to another. Why didn't we go somewhere warm? Sometimes you have to branch out and see what else is out there.
A few people have asked me what is there to do in the northwest. Well, for starters, they brunch A LOT. I wish us New Yorkers can brunch during the week, but we just don't have the time for that. Then, in my head, I pictured lots of snow so that I can go snow tubing, but no snow this time.
The drive from Portland to Seattle wasn’t bad and it took approximately 2 hours to get there. We stayed at an Airbnb in Seattle in the North Queen Anne area. Queen Anne is a good location to stay in because it is close to downtown Seattle and Ubers/ Lyfts are reasonably priced. We interacted with people in both locations and didn’t have a fear of not being safe. Everyone seemed friendly for the most part.
The food was so fresh and the goal was to eat as much seafood as possible. I am not much of a drinker, but we did go to some breweries and cider houses. It was almost like a " when in Rome" moment. A few things I discovered while I was in there was gas is more expensive, no sales tax, and food is pretty cheap. I think anyone traveling over the age of 30 focuses on eating good food more than anything. LOL Make sure you pack an umbrella because it does rain almost everyday and dress warm!
